When does the day start and end?

The day runs from 9.00am to 3.30pm, with drop off from 8.30am onwards. Each day includes 30 minutes for recess and 60 minutes for lunch, so your child has plenty of time to eat, relax, and play with their new friends!

What should I bring?

Please bring your recess lunch, water bottle, a hat, and sunscreen. To keep your campmates safe and healthy, please make sure that your food is nut-free.

Do I need my own laptop or tablet?

Yes, please bring your own laptop to get the most out of the camp. A tablet is also OK for 'Beyond 2021', 'Red Planet Rescue' and 'Countdown to Mars'. For our Roblox courses you will need a laptop with Windows or a Mac.

What apps will I be using at Beam Camp?

We will be using a variety of applications throughout Beam Camp.

At Red Planet Rescue, we will use TinkerCAD for 3D modelling. This can be accessed via the browser on your laptop or tablet, or you can download the app.

At Countdown to Mars we will use the Jimu app which is pre-installed on the Beam Camp devices. Feel free to download this to your tablet if you are bringing one, but this is not essential. You'll also need web browser access for research purposes.

At Beyond 2021, we will use a variety of VR apps that are pre-installed on the Beam Camp devices. You will be using CoSpaces to build your virtual world and TinkerCAD to 3D model. You can access both of these through your browser on your laptop, or download the apps to your tablet.

At our Roblox courses you will be using Roblox Studio which you will need to set up an account for and install on your laptop. You'll be sent instructions on how to do this.

How many people will be in my class?

We always have at least a 1:15 teacher to student ratio so you can be sure to get the support you need and have an amazing time! Classes are usually capped at 20 to 30 students depending on the venue.

Who will look after me?

Each camp is run by passionate educators who will make sure you have an awesome experience and learn lots of new skills! Camps are led by qualified teachers and university tutors, and all staff have first aid training and current working with children checks.

Will I be able to keep working on my project at home?

Of course! At each camp we will provide you with a guide to help you access the software we use from home and we’ll help you make sure your work is saved securely. You will need your own devices though.

Can I show my project to my friends and family?

Absolutely! After the camp is finished you will be able to view your work by logging into your CoSpaces account and navigating to ‘Free Play’.
